John Sutphin Jr., M.D. is a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the University of Iowa in Iowa City where he provides LASIK, Custom LASIK, LASEK and other all types of Laser Eye Surgery. In addition to being a LASIK surgeon at Iowa, Dr. Sutphin is the Director of Cornea and External Disease and the Medical Director of the Iowa Lions Eye Bank. Dr. Sutphin received his Medical Degree at the Vanderbilt University and completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at the United States Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego. He also completed Fellowships in Anterior Segment Eye Surgery, Corneal Surgery and External Disease at the Cullen Eye Institute. Dr. Sutphin has been serving the medical and surgical eyecare needs of patients in Iowa for over 15 years. Dr.Sutphin has been providing Laser Eye Surgery with the Excimer Laser for correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism since its FDA approval. He is an experienced LASIK surgeon and has performed thousands of Laser Eye Surgery procedures including LASIK, Custom LASIK and other Laser Vision Correction procedures. Dr. Sutphin has research interests in correlating wavefront guided custom laser eye surgery measurments to LASIK and other corneal surgery as well as to other types of Lasik Eye Surgery.
